Well the new Police crime map has been in the news all this week, so what ever your views on whether or not the publication of this data is good or bad it’s hard not to blog about it.
According to the results there were 356 reported crimes in the B44 region in December 2010, with Anti Social Behaviour accounting for 148 of these. The full results for the B44 postcode can be found here. Hopefully with residents working with the local police the number of crimes will fall over time, and this will hopefully show up when the data is next collated.
It is important to note that the new website has been criticised since its launch, with the data being released apparently not accurate in all cases. It is also important to stress that the markings on the map are not a pin point location of where the actual crimes were committed but a rough guideline.
All areas suffer from crime and the B44 region is just like all others in that respect and it by no means that it is an unsafe area to live in. Crime happens in all societies and its up to the local police and residents to work with each other to tackle these problems.
