Yesterday I popped along for a short while to the Kingstanding family fun day held at Wheeldon Recreation Ground next to Kingstanding Circle. This was the 5th anniversary of the event as it continues to grow and become even more successful. Thankfully the weather was pleasant as the queues for the bouncy castle and ice cream van were vast.
Around the site there was a DJ, face painting, stalls from various local charities and causes. Also in attendance was local police, ambulance and fire service whilst I also spotted a local councillor or two talking to local residents. Overall the atmosphere of the place was fantastic and lets hope the event returns for a 6th year as everyone I spoke to seemed to be having a great day.
Meanwhile organiser Keith Airey had this to say,
We were absolutely delighted with the number of stalls and how many people turned up. It was a really great day.
A big thanks must be given to the funding provided by the Oscott Ward Community Chest and Comic Relief and to organiser Keith Airey.
